Chinese people don’t eat with silver plates and iron forks, but crystal clear porcelain. They are also one of the protagonists on the Millennium Silk Road, and their utilization rate is even comparable to the air in this land. However, are those dazzling ceramic tableware on the market really safe?
In this era of busy traffic, half of them are takeout brothers. Many experts have reminded everyone thousands of times: “takeout often uses plastic tableware, some plastic heating is toxic, and some can’t even be reused.”
Someone thought, “fortunately, we are all using porcelain bowls and plates”, and couldn’t help smiling. But! Yes! Do you know that porcelain bowls and plates are not necessarily safe? The so-called unsafe mainly refers to the heavy metals easily precipitated from porcelain tableware, such as lead and cadmium. If heavy metals accumulate in the human body, they may cause damage to the liver, kidney and immune system. In short, we mainly look at two points: the raw materials of ceramics and the firing of ceramics.
Substandard ceramic tableware will endanger health
The raw materials of ceramics include clay (body raw material), glaze (glaze raw material) and painting (decoration raw material). The raw material of green body is usually kaolin or clay. Because it belongs to natural clay or minerals without chemical addition, it is basically safe. So who is the bad thing? It’s you two – glaze and painting!
To judge whether ceramic tableware is safe, it depends not only on whether the painting material is in direct contact with food, but also on the firing temperature. Because in the process of high-temperature calcination, harmful substances disappear after chemical reaction.
Glaze is a glass body formed by high-temperature processing of glaze. Heavy metal elements will not remain after such high-temperature treatment (about 1200 ℃).
The color baking temperature of overglaze color is only about 800 degrees, which can not meet the “high temperature” conditions mentioned above. In this case, whether it is safe depends on the quality of the drawing. The better the quality, the lower the content of lead and cadmium. Ceramic tableware manufacturers remind you that you also need to polish your eyes when selecting ceramic tableware. Don’t be confused by good-looking tableware, which will cause safety problems in the later stage!
